Background
Treak Cliff Cavern is a tourist attraction in Castleton, home to the famous Blue John stone. They wanted to make sure they could attract foreign visitors to the site who could then enjoy it and understand it just as well as English-speaking visitors.
The Brief
- To assist with a European funding application.
- To translate their existing audio tour and record it in Polish, French, German, Spanish and Chinese.
The Solution
Peak Translations translated and recorded the audio trail in five different languages, using a method that allowed for time-effective and cost-effective amendments. The original audio recordings included references to legislation and safety measures introduced during the Covid pandemic. By recording the audio tour in small, labelled chunks and as separate .wav files, redundant messaging could be easily removed and any amendments easily dropped into the trail in the correct place, without the need to re-record the whole tour.
The Benefits
International visitors to Treak Cliff Cavern can enjoy their visit every bit as much as English speaking visitors!
